The aim of this project is to develop learners’ digital skills, helping them move closer to either higher-level vocational study or the workplace, with a focus on creative media and business and accounting.
As most of our learners are foundation level with essential skills needs, one focus has been on strengthening our basic digital skills provision, through better resources to support blended and hybrid learning.
Year 1
We have …
- created 2 new teaching pods to enable high-quality synchronous online teaching as part of a blended approach in ESOL, English and maths.
- purchased equipment to support hybrid learning and the creation of audio-visual resources. (So far this has been used to film employer visits, host a webinar, create an ESOL podcast and develop marketing videos to engage more learners onto creative courses).
- upskilled our staff in creation of digital and audio-visual learning resources. One staff member is completing a L5 Diploma in Designing Digital Learning and two staff attended Access Creative filming training and are now cascading that to 3 other staff members.
Year 2
We will …
- create an audio recording studio to enhance our audio and sound engineering course offer
- create a Digital Design Bureau equipped with new 2D and 3D technologies to support our digital creative arts course offer
- extend our digital offer, with a pop-up IT suite using desktop laptops
Our Digital Challenge
- editing raw audio-visual material, which can be prohibitively time-consuming!
