LSIF Projects

Christ the King Sixth Form College

Our goal is to establish an immersive learning centre on our vocational site to revolutionise teaching and learning by incorporating cutting-edge technology and innovative pedagogy. The aim is to foster both staff and student skill development, while strengthening partnerships with businesses, colleges and universities.

Approach

We focused on creating an immersive, technology-driven learning environment that integrates smart boards (touch screens) and VR equipment. These tools are essential for enabling interactive and hands-on learning experiences. The emphasis is on enhancing engagement and equipping learners with the skills needed for real-world applications, while simultaneously providing staff with advanced teaching methodologies.

Achievements So Far

We have successfully outlined the technical requirements for the learning centre, including the need for 4 smart boards (touch screens) and 10 VR sets. Additionally, we have begun laying the groundwork for partnerships with local firms and universities, which will play a pivotal role in the project’s long- term success.

Challenges

One challenge was securing the funding needed to acquire the necessary equipment. To mitigate this, we have been exploring multiple funding sources and grant opportunities.

Another was ensuring that all our staff were adequately trained to use the new technology effectively. To address this, we are implementing comprehensive training and ongoing professional development programmes.

Due to the fast-evolving nature of technology posing a risk of obsolescence, we are also planning a sustainable technology-refresh strategy.
