LSIF Projects

Christ the King Sixth Form College

Our goal was to enhance our sustainability initiatives by developing an Eco Hut to complement our existing Eco Hub area. The aim is to create a dedicated space that supports environmental education and sustainability projects, benefiting both our students and the local community. This initiative aligns with our commitment to fostering a deeper understanding of environmental issues and encouraging sustainable practices among students.

Approach

To achieve this, we focused on building the Eco Hut as a practical extension of the Eco Hub. This new space will serve as a hands-on learning environment where students can engage with green technologies and sustainability practices. We collaborated with local primary and secondary schools, as well as businesses and green organisations, to ensure the project’s relevance and impact. The Eco Hut will be integrated into the curriculum for STEM subjects, particularly within sustainability modules.

Challenges

Potentially, the Eco Hut might not be fully utilised or engaged with as planned, so we have developed a schedule for its use and are actively promoting its benefits to students and educators.
